This course aims to provide an understanding of how Japanese culture and thought influence on second language acquisition and development by Japanese learners of English. Through studying case studies on various issues, possible ideas of effective teaching to improve the learners' communicative skills are proposed and discussed.
Students are required to read given materials and orally report the summary in class, followed by discussions. Students are also asked to complete a mini-project based on their observations, experiences, and experiments.

Students are required to read given materials and make oral reports in class. Contribution to discussion in class is very much welcomed. Students are also required to be prepared for a presentation on final mini-project based on their research at the end of the course.
