This course aims to develop professional-level translation and translator skills in English-to-Japanese translation. With the aim, we will also learn translation theory to explain about your process and product. The final goal for one to achieve is to acquire knowledge and skills to talk about translation.
A wide variety of source texts will be assigned, mainly on group-project basis. The accuracy in message transfer and contextual understandings, as well as group translation skills such as terminology management and member roles will be emphasized.

Translation theory also helps explain about your own translation product and process. Therefore, reading assignments of translation research and relevant literature will also be required as outside-class work on top of translating assignments.
