【Course Objectives】

Through a reading and discussion of a number of texts, written in Japanese or English and pertaining to international or transnational studies on art, students will learn, analyse and will be able to critically apply methods presented in those texts in their own study.

【Course Contents】

We will study and discuss international exchanges seen in art with an emphasis on East-West artistic relations. A number of texts relevant to the subject, written by either prominent or young and up-coming scholars will be used. We will learn about hitherto little known topics, new research methods and will critically analyse the approaches adopted by the authors of the texts in order to be able to apply them to future new studies.
