【Course Objectives】

This course will cover the general trends in Western Christian art, and you will learn methods for studying art history while gaining an understanding of the historical backgrounds and formative features of each era.

【Course Contents】

We will use reference literature to learn the unfolding of the history of Western Christian art.
1) The course instructor will explain the overall picture of the class and raise an issue.
2) The instructor will give lectures on how to appreciate works of art, referring to the art gallery exhibitions currently being held.
3) Based on the lectures, you will each choose an individual research topic according to your interests and give a presentation on what you have learned through your research. As presentations will always involve using works of art, they will function as an opportunity for you to learn PowerPoint and other visual presentation methods. Q&A sessions and discussions following each presentation will serve as an opportunity for all students to consider various issues involved in Christian art. Note that the schedule may be partially changed.
