【Course Objectives】

To gain fundamental knowledge of Japan's early modern transition period (focusing on the 19th century) and understand the basics to conduct empirical research. To find one's own research theme through interacting with a variety of issues.

【Course Contents】

All participants are required to prepare for the seminar by reading the assigned literature, and one or two students will be assigned as a presenter for each seminar, with everyone participating in discussions. Presentation may be made in individual groups. Also, the students will learn the basics of conducting historical research and train in reading historical materials.
