【Course Objectives】

This class will observe the relationship between human beings and the environment from a viewpoint of culture, ecology, and environment with humans as the main actors. Students will learn methods of understanding based on mutual relevance.

【Course Contents】

Drawing on texts and fieldwork, students will understand cultural/environmental studies research on the world's diverse relationships between nature and humans, in areas including geography and ecological anthropology.
Students will learn concepts and methodologies concerning "environment," "ecological" and "culture" from readings and from case studies of reference literature and materials. Students will engage in field investigations of their subjects.
In each class, leaders will give presentations and students will engage in discussion. The class will introduce content, pose related questions, and engage in debate to deepen interest and understanding. Participants will divide the tasks of presentation leader, discussion facilitator, and seminar manager.
