【Course Objectives】

To explore each student's own research theme while improving reading and comprehension skills of academic research books, articles, and historical documents on Japan's early modern transition period (focusing on the 19th century). To acquire an understanding of the fundamentals for writing research papers and the ability to practice in accordance with individual assignments.

【Course Contents】

In the first half of the lecture, all participants are required to prepare for the lecture by reading the assigned literature and historical materials, and one or two persons will be assigned as a presenter each time, with everyone participating in the discussion. Presentation may be made in individual groups. In the second half of the lecture, each individual will present a report on a topic of his/her interest, which provides basic training for writing a thesis.
