Students are expected to understand an ancient document in many ways in historical science and to acquire the knowledge to read and the skills to comprehend. Students are expected to learn the background in the time of the ancient document all together and understand the view of under what kind of historical circumstances ancient documents appear and are used.
This course takes up various ancient documents in Japanese antiquity and analyzes the point of how to restore history contemporary with an ancient document in particular. Students are expected to learn the skills of reading and comprehension while working on the ancient document shown from instructor.

歴史学において「古文書」とは何かということを理解し、古代の史料を読解するための知識とスキルを習得することを目指します。あわせて「古文書」の作成された時代の背景を学び、それらの文書群がいかなる歴史的状況のもとに出現、使用されるのか、総体的に理解する視野を獲得したいと思います。

本講義では日本古代における様々な「古文書」を取り上げて解説し、さらにそれらが作成された時代の歴史をどのように復元するかという点に注意しながら分析していきます。受講生は教員から提示された「古文書」に取り組むことで、読解のスキルを身につけられるようにします。
