【Course Objectives】

This study traces the history of East Eurasia from prehistoric times to the 19th century. Employing conventional regional divisions, it encompasses East Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Maritime Asia. The objective is to elucidate the dynamics of the flow of commodities, people, information, and religious practices among these regions.

【Course Contents】

The current global situation is compelling a reevaluation of all existing historical perspectives. Discourses such as global history are inadequate in explaining the present circumstances. Moreover, non-evidence-based historical narratives are contributing to international tensions. In this lecture, in order to confront such situations, we aim to present a new historical perspective by returning to the viewpoint of the ecological environment. Designated as "East Eurasia" within a spatial framework, we intend to provide a comprehensive view of the entire history from prehistoric times to the dawn of the modern era, grounded on the foundation of accumulated empirical historiography rather than mere historical storytelling.
