【Course Objectives】

This course provides a general outline of the philosophy of education. While examining the basic concepts of philosophy and ethics, this course will connect these to issues in education to help students have a greater sense of what education is and how it should be implemented.

【Course Contents】

While outlining the basic concepts and fundamental theories of philosophy and ethics, we will apply these ideas to education and consider the questions of "What is education fundamentally for human beings and what is its meaning? Expanding on the discussion in my book "When People Talk, They Are Not Thinking: A Philosophy of Dialogue and Thinking," I will lecture on the sub-themes of dialogue, play, and rhythm, arguing that, contrary to common sense, the purpose of education is to "return to childhood". The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session.
