【Course Objectives】

1、Students will acquire a basic perspective on the history of postwar Japanese society.
2、Albeit on paper, students will be exposed to grassroots activities and learn the meaning and value of political action to create a better society.
3, Using primary historical sources, students will actually describe the history of local communities and people during the high-growth period. Through this work, students will experience the fun and difficulty of writing history.

【Course Contents】

By examining Hama Hideo's book "Social Theory of Postwar Japan" (Yuhikaku, 2023) together, students will acquire knowledge of the history of postwar Japanese society and its characteristics. After that, we will review "Fujin no Tsudoi" (80 issues in all) that was published as a community papers from 1957 to 1966 in Soshigaya Danchi.
