In contemporary society, education is one of the keys for social mechanisms and their changes. The more students deepen their understanding of education, the more they deepen their understanding of social mechanisms and their changes. By shedding light on issues of education related to Christianity and other religions, this course is designed for students to gain insights on the place and role of Christianity and other religions in modern society.
Among education-related issues, the issues involved with religions, especially with Christianity, will be chosen for discussion. While "Christianity and Education 1" focuses on Japan, this course focuses on countries other than Japan. Europe and America as well as the Philippines from Asia will be selected, and issues concerning public education and religion in those countries will be studied.

現代社会において、教育は、社会の仕組みやその変化のキーポイントとなってきた。教育の理解が深まれば深まるほど、社会の仕組みやその変化の理解が深まる。こうした教育と関わるキリスト教ならびに宗教的な問題に光をあてることで、現代社会におけるキリスト教と宗教の位置や役割を考察したい。

教育をめぐる諸問題のなかで、キリスト教を中心に宗教と関わるテーマを選び解題してゆく。「キリスト教と教育１」では日本に重点をおくが、本講義では日本以外の国を対象とする。キリスト教が多数派の国々のうち、欧米諸国に加え、アジアからフィリピンを取り上げ、そこでの公教育と宗教の問題をみていく。
