【Course Objectives】

In this class, while dealing with the types of exercise used in elementary schools, students will understand the contents and teaching methods of various sports events. Also, the class aims to help students learn instructional methods for physical education classes that improve pupils’ health and physical strength while familiarizing them with fun exercises appropriate for pupil growth and development.

【Course Contents】

Students will come to understand the physical education curriculum’s tenet of "through proper exercise experience and understanding of health and safety, ... develop basic qualities and the abilities to participate in enjoyable physical activity throughout their lives, maintain and improve their health and fitness and cultivate an appropriate attitude towards leading a pleasant and happy life" through practical experience. Also, adding to the basic principle of "promote healthy growth of pupils 'by considering physical and mental aspects in an integrated manner'," students will also become competent in preparation, teaching method techniques and knowledge of physical education classes while studying about “sportspersonship.” Basically, one or two sport(s) will be taken in every two periods of the class. Practical experiences including contents and practice methods concerning such sport(s) will also be taken in the classes. Also, there are some events that cannot be held at the Ikebukuro Campus that will be conducted at the Niiza Campus or using Rikkyo Elementary School facilities.
