This seminar aims to philosophize education through reading and discussing Gareth Matthews' book entitled,The Philosophy of Childhood. The goals are: (1) to become able to think philosophically through reading a text, (2) to gain skills for having and learning from philosophical discussions, and (3) to develop one's own insight into fundamental questions on childhood and education.
Reading Gareth Matthews' book, we will discuss fundamental questions as to what childhood is, how children become adults, how adults should interact with children, and so on.
