Through the examination of basic literature and exercises in data analysis, the course aims to deepen students' understanding of digital humanities and media studies in a systematic and practical way.
The entire course will be divided into three parts: "Obtaining Information," "Analyzing Information," and "Visualizing Information." Each part consists of a literature reading session and a data analysis session.
In the literature reading session, all students are required to read the literature, written in Japanese and in English, designated by the instructor in advance, and the person in charge of the presentation summarizes the contents and translates the important parts verbatim. In the data analysis session, students are required to complete the exercise based on the lecture content as a preparatory study, and then submit the results based on the discussion in the exercise.

基本文献の検討やデータ分析の演習を通じて、人文情報学メディア学について体系的かつ実践的に理解を深めることを目指す。
Through the examination of basic literature and exercises in data analysis, the course aims to deepen students' understanding of digital humanities and media studies in a systematic and practical way.
全体を「情報の入手」「情報の分析」「情報の可視化」という3つのパートに分けて進める。各パートは、文献講読回とデータ分析回から構成される。
文献講読回では、基本的に毎回、教員の指定する文献（日本語並びに英語）を予習で全員読み、報告担当者は内容のまとめ、重要な部分の逐語訳を行う。データ分析回では、教員の指定するデータベース（日本語並びに英語）を用い、講義内容を踏まえた演習課題を予習として実施し、さらに演習での議論を踏まえて自分自身の関心の基づく成果物を提出する。

授業の性質上英語文献やデータも用いるが、苦手な人にも配慮する。その上で、様々な学年や専門の受講生が参加することを期待する。初回に出席者との間で共通テーマ並びに講読する文献を決定する。要するに、大学図書館などにある電子リソースを自分のレポートや卒業論文でどのように使ってゆくのかの訓練でもあるので、すべての人に開かれています。
各自ノートパソコンは用意しておいて欲しい。ない場合は大学で借りることは可能である。
この科目は「英語に関連する科目」です。使用言語は英語ではありませんが英語のテキストやデータベースを用いて授業を行うバイリンガルの設定となっています。使用する資料等については上記の「テキスト」「参考文献」の欄で確認してください。
