【Course Objectives】

The aim of this course is to look at part of an English grammar book aimed at English speakers, and understnad at how the English grammar is described there differently from the way it is explained in so-called "school grammar" often taught in Japanese school, and for students to be able to explain it both orally (in oral presentation) AND in writing (in written exam).

【Course Contents】

We will use an English grammar that is used at university in English-speaking countries for 1st and 2nd undergraduates. We will learn how various grammatical concepts are explained and also see different approaches taken to explain the grammar. This course this year will specifically focus on verbal inflection and the uses of the tense system. The first few weeks will be taught by the instructor. For the rest of the weeks there will be students' presentation and the lecture.
In each class we ask students to give a short speech (on the day of presentation). You can choose your own topic, and please thinking of something (your experience, your thought, etc.) that will enlighten your fellow students!

※Please refer to Japanese Page for details including evaluations, textbooks and others.
