This course will aim to reconsider the features of the Present-day English through the knowledge of Old English.
By reading an introduction to Old English as a textbook, we aim to gain the knowledge of Old English. Through comparing this obtained knowledge with the knowledge of the Present-Day English, we try to reaffirm the features of the English language we use today.

古英語の入門書を読み進める。古英語の知識を獲得することに加え、現代英語の特徴を見つめなおすことを目的とする。
This course will aim to reconsider the features of the Present-day English through the knowledge of Old English.
古英語の入門書を読みながら、古英語の知識を獲得していく。その知識と今我々が使っている現代英語との繋がりや違いを確認し、現代英語の特徴を改めて捉えていく予定である。
