【Course Objectives】

The objectives of this course are to introduce a selection of important nuclear disaster works written by British writers between the early 20th century and the early 21st centuries, and to acquaint students with methods of analysing English prose texts by reading them in terms of various nuclear-related issues.

【Course Contents】

This course introduces nuclear disaster works (novels and essays) written by British writers between the early 20th and the early 21st centuries, in chronological order. The course will also focus on how events such as radioactive materials, nuclear war and nuclear accidents are represented in the works. Some of the American and Japanese nuclear disaster novels of the same period will also be mentioned.
