Cultivation of cultural understanding (with wider perspectives on issues of class, gender, and ethnicity), and enhancement of deeper understanding of cultural diversity.
Through close reading of essays from John Berger’s Ways of Seeing, students are encouraged to study multi-layered meanings of artworks and of art-ownership in historical and cultural contexts.

文化的事象を考察するときの観点がクラス・ジェンダー・エスニシティーに関する問題意識によって変化することを学び、文化理解の視野を広げる。

ジョン・バージャーの美術批評Ways of Seeingが収録するエッセイを原文で精読し、芸術作品の持つ意味や芸術作品を所有することの意味を、時代的・文化的背景の中で考察する。
