【Course Objectives】

Students will learn basic knowledge that will serve as a clue in considering French culture and society, and learn how to make presentations, write reports, and search for materials.

【Course Contents】

As a first approach to the culture and society of the French-speaking world, we will examine several characteristic themes ("separation of church and state," "strikes," "family system," etc.) in texts dealing with contemporary French society, while making comparisons with Japan. Students will be divided into several groups, and will present their assigned sections after summarizing and researching the text. After listening to the presentations, participants will discuss their opinions as a whole, and finally, they will submit their ideas on comment cards. In order to do this, the first few sessions will provide an introductory overview of the subject, and will cover such topics as how to summarize and present your work, and how to search for materials in the library.
