Examination on the "travel" in the Middle Ages and Renaissance through various literary works
People in the Middle Ages and Renaissance traveled for various reasons, including pilgrimage, asceticism, and war. While reading literary texts such as Tristan Tales, Arthurian romances, and Montaigne's Travel diary, we will consider the medieval worldview and the philosophical meaning of travel. Some of the texts will be in French. Student presentations on the theme of "Journey" will be scheduled. A final report will be written by each student on a relevant topic.

中世・ルネサンスにおける旅の意味について、さまざまな文学作品を通して考える
Examination on the "travel" in the Middle Ages and Renaissance through various literary works
巡礼、修行、戦争などさまざまな理由で中世・ルネサンスの人びとは旅をした。トリスタン物語、アーサー王物語の遍歴の騎士たち、モンテーニュの旅日記などの文学テクストを読みつつ、中世の世界観と旅のもつ哲学的な意味を考える。一部フランス語の文献も使用する。「旅」をテーマにした学生発表を予定。一部フランス語の文章を使用。
期末レポートは関連する主題で各自が執筆する。
People in the Middle Ages and Renaissance traveled for various reasons, including pilgrimage, asceticism, and war.
