Examination on the notion of the stranger through various works of literature.
After examining the ethnographic function of strangers and the social structure of « center / frontier », we will analyze the description of strangers in the literature such as Marie de France, "A Tale of the Fox," Camus' "The Stranger," Duras' "The Mistress," etc., and using Kristeva's "Strangers to Ourselves " as material for discussion. Some French texts will also be used. A final report will be written by each student on a relevant topic.

異邦人（よそもの）とは何か、さまざまな文学作品を通して考える
Examination on the notion of the stranger through various works of literature.
異邦人のもつ民俗学的な機能と、中心と辺境といった社会構造を考察した後、個別の作品（中世～現代）における異邦人観を見てゆく。マリ・ド・フランス、『狐物語』、カミュ『異邦人』、デュラス『愛人』などをとり上げ、クリステヴァ『外国人－我らの内なるもの』などを材料に検討を行う。一部フランス語の文献も使用する。「異邦人」をテーマにした学生発表を予定。
