Students will read, think, and understand texts describing film culture in French and acquire ability to translate them into Japanese. Students will read relevant literatures to deepen their knowledge of image culture.
Students will read Georges Didi-Huberman’s texts. Didi-Huberman is well known globally as intellect of image theory, covering all images from painting to film, photo, etc. Students will reflect on these images by reading his deep and broad essays. Students will think about how to translate these essays into Japanese. During the class, students will be randomly selected to read aloud and translate these texts. After that, professor will provide translation and explanation.

映像文化をめぐるテクストをフランス語で講読して、考え、理解し、日本語に翻訳する能力を習得する。関連する文献を講読して、映像文化に関する知識を深める。
Students will read, think, and understand texts describing film culture in French and acquire ability to translate them into Japanese. Students will read relevant literatures to deepen their knowledge of image culture.
ジョルジュ・ディディ＝ユベルマンのテクストを講読する。ディディ=ユベルマンは、世界的に知られるイメージ論の思想家であり、絵画、映画、写真･･･といったイメージ全般について、縦横無尽に論じている。深みと広がりを備えた彼の文章を読み、イメージについて考えながら、その文章をいかにして日本語に翻訳するのかを考える。教室では、ランダムに指名して、音読した上で訳文を発表していただく。その後で、担当教員が翻訳しながら解説を行う。
Students will read Georges Didi-Huberman’s texts.
