【Course Objectives】

On completion of this course, students should have a basic knowledge and understanding of French modern art.

【Course Contents】

This course is intended to provide a focused study of key works associated with Neo-Classicism, Romanticism, official art, Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. In particular, it takes a close look at eleven paintings and one sculpture from the French Revolution to the turn of the 20th Century that represent scenes from history, literature, landscape, imagination, rural life and urban life.
