On completion of this course, students should have a basic knowledge and understanding of French modern art.
This course is intended to provide a focused study of key works associated with Neo-Classicism, Romanticism, official art, Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. In particular, it takes a close look at eleven paintings and one sculpture from the French Revolution to the turn of the 20th Century that represent scenes from history, literature, landscape, imagination, rural life and urban life.

授業を通して、フランス近代美術に関する基本的な知識と理解を得ることを目標とします。
On completion of this course, students should have a basic knowledge and understanding of French modern art.
この授業では、新古典主義、ロマン主義、公的美術、レアリスム、印象派、ポスト印象派に関わる重要な作品を学びます。具体的には、フランス革命から20世紀初めまでの時代に、歴史、文学、風景、想像世界、田園および都市の生活を主題とした、11点の絵画と1点の彫刻を中心に取り上げます。

各地の美術館や展覧会に足を運んでください。授業に関連する展覧会や常設展を見てもらい、11月初めを目途に展覧会レポートを提出してもらいます（詳細は授業内に指定）。
東京国立近代美術館、国立西洋美術館、国立新美術館などで、特別展を割引、常設展を無料で入館できるキャンパスメンバーズの制度を活用するとともに、学生の入館料を無料に設定しているアーティゾン美術館などを訪れてください。
