To acquire the following skills in preparation for writing a graduation thesis.
-Determine their own interests and decide on the theme, works, authors, etc. to be discussed.
-Learn how to search for and read previous research, and develop a theme based on that research.
-Examine expressions and structures in order to discover the characteristics of the subject matter (whether works or discourses) to be discussed.
-Evaluate works based on the viewpoints and interests they have established.
Students will also receive advice from faculty members individually or in groups, as necessary. In order to decide on themes for graduation theses and to proceed with relevant investigation and research, students will undertake preparations for writing theses while receiving advice and guidance from faculty members, and will set and put into practice step-by-step goals to be achieved. Various forms of class exist, such as that in which individual one-on-one guidance by the faculty member in charge is provided along with the holding of group intermediate presentations and discussions, and that consisting solely of repeated individual one-on-one guidance.

４年次に卒業論文に取り組むことなどを目標として、以下のことを目指す。
・自分の興味関心を見きわめ、論じるテーマや作品、作家などを決める。
・先行研究の捜し方や読み方を身につけ、その内容をふまえて自身のテーマを練り上げる。
・論じる対象（作品でも、言説でも）の表現や構成を吟味し、その特色を見出す。
・自分で立てた観点や関心に基づきつつ、作品を評価づける。

必要に応じて個別ないしグループで教員の助言を受ける。卒業論文執筆に向けたテーマを決め、テーマにそった調査・研究を進めて行くために、教員の助言・指導を受けながら卒業論文執筆の準備を進めるとともに、達成すべき目標を段階を追って設定し実践する。担当教員により、グループでの中間発表・討議をする場合、個別面談指導を併用する授業形態、もっぱら個別面談指導を重ねていく授業形態などさまざまなやり方がある。
