【Course Objectives】

Through presentations and discussions, students will learn research methods and points of view on modern Japanese literature and acquire the knowledge and abilities necessary for research. Particular emphasis is placed on carefully understanding the language of works, research methods for previous studies, and logical thinking. We also aim to help students acquire the ability to properly understand the words of others and the art of deepening their thinking through discussion.

【Course Contents】

Students will learn various methods and points of view in the study of modern Japanese literature. The course will be based on a short story assigned by the instructor. All students will be assigned to present what they have researched and thought about. Presentations will be given individually, not in groups. All students will discuss their presentations. Presentation assignments will be decided at the beginning of the class. The works listed in the "Course Schedule" are examples of works covered in past classes.
