Outstanding literary criticism/literary theory has its own value as a brilliant ‘creation’ that strongly stimulates thought. In this lecture, we will aim to touch on some of this attractive value and develop a perspective that allows us to think more broadly about literature.
Along with explaining major keywords in literary theory from the latter half of the twentieth century (postmodernism, nationalism, reproduction art, sexuality, postcolonialism, etc.) we will also introduce, as necessary, topics which have recently come under review in Japan. In addition to explaining the theory, the emphasis will be on increasing students’ exposure to the actual texts (also, the lesson plan below may change). Also, the intention is to introduce some of this year’s literary texts from Asia.

優れた文芸批評・文学理論はそれ自体が、思考を強く刺激する優れた「作品」としての価値を有している。本講義ではその魅力の一端に触れ、文学をより多面的に考える視座を得ることを目的とする。

２０世紀後半の文芸理論の主要なキーワード（ポストモダニズム、ナショナリズム、複製芸術、セクシュアリティ、ポストコロニアリズム等々）を解説するとともに、最近の日本の批評のトピックについても随時紹介する。理論の解説に加えて、テクストの現物そのものに触れてもらうことを重視する（なお下記の授業計画は変更される可能性がある）。さらに、今年度はアジアの文学的テクストも紹介する予定。
