【Course Objectives】

The aim of this lecture is to examine the importance and the role of Corporate Social Responsibility, which is at the core of the relationship between sustainable society and business.

【Course Contents】

Historically, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities were perceived as charitable endeavors, separate from a company's core business operations and conducted at their discretion. However, in today's context, where societal concerns among market participants have heightened, CSR has been reevaluated as a central component of strategic decision-making and daily business practices. Addressing stakeholder expectations and fulfilling social responsibilities have become indispensable elements for success and sustainable existence in the global business environment.

In this lecture series, we will delve deeply into the concept of CSR, starting from its foundational principles to understanding how contemporary businesses confront a variety of challenges. Alongside theoretical frameworks, we will explore specific CSR case studies from diverse industries both domestically and internationally. Additionally, the course encompasses critical perspectives and discussions on CSR, thoroughly examining the significance of CSR in corporate management and the role of corporations in a sustainable society. Moreover, to bridge theory with practice and to enrich students’ understanding with real-world insights, we plan to invite practitioners and experts from companies actively engaged in CSR. Their experiences and expertise will be shared with the students, providing them with opportunities to learn practical approaches to complex issues surrounding CSR.
