This course aims to develop intercultural communication abilities vital for global professionals. Students will gain foundational knowledge and skills in the field of intercultural communication. Simultaneously, students will enhance practical skills, including intercultural negotiation and team building, necessary for multicultural organizations through case studies and simulation games.
In this course, we will learn the fundamental concepts and theories in intercultural communication studies, including the interaction between culture and communication, differences in cultural dimensions, intercultural adaptation, cultural schema, and acculturation. Additionally, various case studies involving people from different cultural backgrounds working together will be introduced. Specific themes to be covered include (1) intercultural adaptation of Japanese expatriates and their families, (2) transformation of identity and behaviors of multicultural employees, and (3) career development of foreign workers in Japan.

本授業の目標は、グローバル人材になるために必要とされる異文化コミュニケーション能力を育成することである。本授業を受講することで、異文化コミュニケーション学に関する基礎知識とスキルを獲得することができる。また、事例研究や異文化シミュレーション・ゲームを通じて、異文化間の交渉やチームビルディングなど、多文化組織で必要とされる実践的な能力を身につけることが期待できる。
This course aims to develop intercultural communication abilities vital for global professionals. Students will gain foundational knowledge and skills in the field of intercultural communication. Simultaneously, students will enhance practical skills, including intercultural negotiation and team building, necessary for multicultural organizations through case studies and simulation games.
本授業では、文化とコミュニケーションの相互作用、文化による価値観の相違、異文化適応、文化スキーマ、文化変容など、異文化コミュニケーション学における基本的な概念と理論を解説する。また、ケース・スタディーの形で、異なる文化背景を持つ人々が共に仕事をする場合の様々な事例を紹介する。具体的なテーマとして、（1）海外駐在員とその家族の異文化適応、（2）多文化チームに置かれる社員のアイデンティティと行動の変容、（3）日本国内における外国人労働者のキャリア形成などが扱われる。

本授業では、受講者の主体的な活動を重視するため、積極的な授業参加が望まれる。できる限り多くの人とコミュニケーションを図るために、毎回の授業では、ランダムにグループを分けて協同作業を行う。また、文化背景の違う人々との協働作業に関心を持っている方（とくに外国人留学生）の履修を歓迎する。なお、受講者数や理解度に応じて授業の進め方を変更する場合がある。
