【Course Objectives】

In this lecture, the history, overview, key methodologies, and recent trends of quality control in the Japanese manufacturing industry will be explained. Students will learn the history of quality control and understand the history of development of quality control in Japan and the characteristics of Japanese quality control. The key methodologies of quality control include basic concepts and methodologies of problem solving and the use of data in quality control, and how to utilize them.
To listen to guest speakers who are active in the industrial world and to understand the actual situation in the real world.

【Course Contents】

In this lecture, the history, overview, key methodologies, and recent trends of quality control in the Japanese manufacturing industry will be lectured.
In the history and overview of quality control, the history of development of quality control in Japan and characteristics of Japanese quality control will be explained. In the key methodologies of quality control, basic concepts and methodologies of problem solving and data utilization in quality control will be explained. In the area of data utilization, the analysis of cause-and-effect and ensuring robustness will be discussed as important topics. Finally, recent trends in quality management, such as the use of big data and the future of quality management, will be explained.
Guest speakers who are active in the industry will be invited as necessary.
