【Course Objectives】

Learn the basics of econometrics and acquire the knowledge necessary for conducting empirical analysis. The basics of traditional econometrics are studied in Econometrics 1.

【Course Contents】

The basics of undergraduate-level econometrics are studied. The course begins with a review of probability and statistics and then moves to the study of basic items, such as simple linear regression analysis and multiple regression analysis, before studying non-linear regression models, linear probability, and logit/probit models. Econometrics 1 focuses on acquiring the basics of traditional econometrics while Econometrics 2 considers more modern analytical frameworks and analytical techniques. The mathematics level required to understand the course is the mathematics level of "First Steps in Econometrics: An Encouragement of Empirical Analysis," by Ryuichi Tanaka (2015), which is the textbook, and additional explanation will be given as necessary.
