【Course Objectives】

In this course, students will understand the basic theory of the role of commerce in bridging the gaps in geography, time, property, and information that exist between production and consumption, as well as the distribution system, which is the overall mechanism of commerce.
In addition, we aim to cultivate the ability to systematically consider various changes in the commercial and distribution system against the backdrop of shrinking domestic markets, the development of information technology, and the progress of internationalization.

【Course Contents】

In today's society, it is a matter of course that if you go to a store, you can find a product, and if you pay for it, you can buy it.
However, we can easily receive such benefits precisely because behind the scenes, a sophisticated and efficient "distribution system" has been built by many economic entities.
Before you step out into society, you need to re-understand the meaning of the workings of commerce and distribution, on which you depend almost unconsciously.
In this course, after understanding the basic structure of distribution, we will focus on the role of retailers and wholesalers, who are the main players, and delve into their characteristic business formats and various changes.
We will take a theoretical approach while using basic models and data. Furthermore, while using many actual examples, we will proceed so that you can understand the functions of economic entities that support distribution.
