The object of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of agriculture and food issues from an economic perspective. Mainly focused on 1) land economy, 2) domestic and global food system, 3) farm production practice and its business management.
This course discusses agriculture and food issues mainly on the market mechanism of farm product, international trade theory, farm management and production cost, external economy and diseconomy of farming, development of the food industry and food safety efforts.

農業は，経済発展にともない産業的に縮小しているものの，国民への食料供給という重要な役割を果たしている。その経済的な特徴は，土地という生産要素の特殊性，農産物市場の特質，農業経営で見られる独特な経営感覚等に規定されてきた。本授業では，国内外の農業の現状を幅広く把握し経済学的視点から理解することを目標とする。

世界の農業と食料問題について，農産物の需要・供給の現状，農産物市場・国際貿易の特質、農業保護の経済理論を説明する。さらに経済発展との関係，農業経営と担い手問題，農地・資源の保全、環境保全の視点から農業の課題について講義する。また食品産業の発展にともなう食品安全の課題について講義する｡
