【Course Objectives】

In Money and Banking, students will understand the structure and trends of the modern economy through the study of financial mechanisms and financial phenomena. In particular, the goal of Money and Banking 1 is for students to be able to theoretically organize the role of banks in economic activities, and to be able to explain in their own words what modern banks are like in society and the debate over central bank monetary policy

【Course Contents】

Over the years, financial products, methods of transactions, and financial players have become more diversified, complex, and sophisticated. Nevertheless, banks, traditional financial institutions, still play a central role in the financial system. This is because banks play a unique and important role that other financial institutions do not, in that they provide "deposit currency" when lending money and are at the center of the payment and settlement mechanism. In this lecture, students will learn the concept of "credit," which is essential for understanding finance, then learn about the structure and theory of the banking system, and finally learn about the role of central banks and monetary policy.
