【Course Objectives】

To understand the fundamental differences between business accounting and nonprofit accounting on the premise that the number and size of not-for-profit organizations are expanding.

【Course Contents】

The difference between assets and liabilities in an organization is called capital, net assets, or net worth. Organizations can be separated into the following two types: for-profit companies, which actively strive to increase that difference and their purposes are providing a return in the form of dividends to their source contributors, and; nonprofit organizations, that strive to increase that difference but in principle do not provide a return to their source contributors. This lecture will cover the accounting for the latter; the nonprofit organizations.
