The objective of this course is to learn about the accounting policies by managements through examples. Deeping understanding of accounting policies helps you to read financial statements accurately.
The accounting needs for subjective judgment by managements, as well as objective recording and reporting of facts. This is necessary for proper calculation of profit or indication of financial position of an enterprise. But at the same time, this gives rooms for managements to control accounting numbers by specific purposes. Because financial report is regulated by laws and accounting standards, control of accounting numbers is done within limits, and these control of accounting numbers is called “Accounting Policies”. In this lecture, we discuss accounting policies, linking to legal regulation, accounting theory and economic environments, and covers many cases.

この講義の目的は、事例を通して経営者の会計政策について学ぶことです。会計政策について理解することで、財務諸表をより適切に読み取ることができるようになります。

会計には、事実の客観的な記録・報告だけでなく、経営者による主観的な判断が必然的に含まれています。これは利益の計算や財政状態の表示を適正に行うために必要なことですが、同時に経営者に、特定の目的に応じた会計数値のコントロールの余地を与えてもいます。しかし、外部への財務報告は法律や会計基準による規制を受けており、こうした規制の枠内で行われる数値のコントロールを「会計政策」と呼びます。この講義では、法制度や会計理論、経済環境と関連付けて会計政策を論じ、多くの事例も紹介します。
