【Course Objectives】

1. To gain a conceptual understanding of economic geography and be able to explain the establishment, formation, and growth mechanisms of regions and cities based on location theory.
2. To reach the level where the technical terms used for economic geography can be understood in both Japanese and English.

【Course Contents】

The location factors will be revealed by understanding location theory, which addresses why farmers, merchants, factories, offices, and other facilities locate in certain areas and how regions and cities grow. As a timely topic, a supplemental explanation of the impact on location of disasters, such as the Great East Japan Earthquake.
