This course aims to develop the ability to analyze real-world economic data, either micro or macro, using spreadsheet software and other tools and to read the results as a practical application of the statistical knowledge gained in the course.
Lecture on how to apply statistical knowledge to actual data. For example, students learn how to decipher necessary information from large amounts of data such as economic statistics published by government agencies, financial information of companies, and stock prices, how to perform complex calculations, and how statistics is used in society. Spreadsheet software will be used in each lecture, and students will be asked to submit a file they have created every few lectures. The fundamentals of probability statistics will be explained again, so students who are not good at statistics can also attend. The course does not cover the area of econometrics, so students who wish to know about applied methods should ask questions separately.

履修済みの統計学の知識の実践として、経済に関するミクロあるいはマクロの現実のデータを、表計算ソフトなどを用いて分析し、結果を読み取ることができる能力を養うことを目標とする。
This course aims to develop the ability to analyze real-world economic data, either micro or macro, using spreadsheet software and other tools and to read the results as a practical application of the statistical knowledge gained in the course.
現実のデータに対する、統計学の知識の活用方法を講義する。例えば官公庁が公表する経済統計情報や企業の財務情報、株価といった大量なデータから表計算ソフトを用いて必要な情報を読み解く方法や、複雑な計算の実行、社会で実際に統計学が使用されている場面の紹介と演習など、理論の定着とともに実践を意識する。毎回の講義では表計算ソフトを使用し、数回に一度、受講者が作成したファイルの提出を求める。確率統計学の基礎は改めて解説するため、統計学に苦手意識のある学生の受講も歓迎する。計量経済学の領域までは扱わないため、応用的な方法を知りたい場合は別途質問すること。
