【Course Objectives】

This course aims to develop the ability to analyze real-world economic data, either micro or macro, using spreadsheet software and other tools and to read the results as a practical application of the statistical knowledge gained in the course.

【Course Contents】

Lecture on how to apply statistical knowledge to actual data. For example, students learn how to decipher necessary information from large amounts of data such as economic statistics published by government agencies, financial information of companies, and stock prices, how to perform complex calculations, and how statistics is used in society. Spreadsheet software will be used in each lecture, and students will be asked to submit a file they have created every few lectures. The fundamentals of probability statistics will be explained again, so students who are not good at statistics can also attend. The course does not cover the area of econometrics, so students who wish to know about applied methods should ask questions separately.
