[Knowledge] Students will acquire knowledge of Japanese management, including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and distinctive characteristics and features shared with the management styles observed in other countries or regions.
[Critical thinking skills] Students will develop critical thinking skills by examining business cases.
[Presentation and discussion skills] Students will enhance their presentation skills and the ability to engage in constructive debates.
This course examines management activities, including those observed in Japanese companies. We use selected case studies, including those published in Harvard Business Review. This course consists of lectures and class discussions. The order of topics may be adjusted to maximize learning outcomes.“Japanese Management 1” covers management decisions observed mainly in the Japanese market. “Japanese Management 2” deals with international business operations and crisis management.

授業内容は講義、ディスカッション、グループワーク、小課題です。企業の事例研究を主教材とします。プロジェクトは批判的分析力を養うことを目的とし、エッセーまたはプレゼンテーションを提出します。授業は英語で行います。
This course examines management activities, including those observed in Japanese companies. We use selected case studies, including those published in Harvard Business Review. The contents of short assignments will be decided after the class size is finalized. To receive credits, students must attend more than 2/3 class meetings. A rubric for a presentation and essay will be available. Academic Honesty: Students must submit original works. Severe penalties are in place for students found guilty of plagiarism offenses. The submission of identical pieces of work for different courses is also considered an academic offense. The use of generative AI will be closely monitored. |
