This course provides the elementary topics of machine learning and aims to explain the potential and the limitations of machine learning. Additionally, the course aims to provide an introduction to Python programming required for implementing machine learning applications.
This course covers basic topics in machine learning and artificial intelligence including:
1) What does it mean to make machines learn?
2) How can we make machines learn by writing Python codes?
3) What problem can we solve by making machines learn?

この授業では、機械学習に関する基本的な話題の学習を通じて、機械学習の可能性と限界を理解することを目標とする。さらに、機械学習の実装に不可欠であるPythonプログラミングの基礎の習得も目標とする。

この授業は機械学習と人工知能に関する以下のような基本的な話題をカバーしている。

パソコン上で自分自身で毎週のようにプログラムを書くことに抵抗感・苦手感がないこと。
ブラウザ上で、プログラミングの環境としてGoogle Colabolartoryを使いつつPythonのプログラミングを書くため、授業が対面で行われる場合は、ノートPCを持参すること。
授業で使うPythonプログラムは、以下のgithubリポジトリとして公開している。

機械学習に関する予備知識は必要ない。ただし、授業内容にPythonプログラミングが含まれており、課題も出るため、単位を取得するためにはPythonでプログラムを書けるようになることが必須である。授業内で使うプログラムの内容は、上のURLで確認できる。
筆記試験では、Pythonのプログラミングの問題が出題される。「このプログラムを動かすと、どのような結果が出力されるか」という問題が複数出題される。それ以外の種類の問題（例えば、知識を言葉で答えるような問題）は出題されない。そのため、実際にそのプログラムを動かしたときに出力される通りに解答しないと、つまり、本当にPythonのプログラムが解読できるようになっていないと、筆記試験でほとんど点数が取れない（そういう学生は毎年少なくない。）ので、注意すること。
