The objective of this seminar is for students to acquire a theoretical foundation of political economy and to foster the ability to think critically about contemporary social problems.
The pillar of the seminar is reading theoretical works of political economy to gain a theoretical foundation of political economics and then to use this to consider contemporary social problems.
Political economy is different from the methodology of mainstream economics and is characterized by a historical and holistic understanding of economic systems. Representative of this is Karl Marx’s “Das Kapital,” and the Marxist economics that formed from this thought.
Another pillar of the seminar is thinking about contemporary social problems and examining specific social problems, such as the income gap, poverty, labor problems, and environmental problems, or theoretical framework for considering social problems like neoliberalism.

社会経済学の理論的基礎を身につけ，現代の社会問題について批判的に思考する力を養う。
The objective of this seminar is for students to acquire a theoretical foundation of political economy and to foster the ability to think critically about contemporary social problems.
ゼミの柱は，社会経済学の理論的著作の輪読と，社会経済学の理論的基礎をふまえたうえでの現代の社会問題の検討になります。
社会経済学（political economy）とは，主流の経済学とは方法論を異にし，経済システムを歴史的かつ総体的に把握することを特徴とする経済学の潮流のことです。代表的なのは，カール・マルクスの『資本論』であり，それを継承して形成されたマルクス経済学です。
ゼミのもう一つの柱である現代の社会問題の検討の方は，格差・貧困問題，労働問題，環境問題などの具体的な社会問題，あるいは新自由主義論などの社会問題の理論的分析について扱います。
