【Course Objectives】

To acquire a basic understanding of modern economics and the ability to analyze the real economy. In addition, for students to polish their ability to think logically and to be able to communicate their ideas to others through discussions, presentations, and paper writing based on rational thinking. These abilities are required not just when a student but throughout life.

【Course Contents】

This course is a study of the fundamentals of modern economics, with a focus on behavioral economics.
The course will focus on attempts to question the orthodox school of economics, which relies entirely on the rationality of human behavior and asserts that optimal equilibrium can be achieved through free competition, and to go beyond its limitations. The theme of this course is to learn about the economic ideas underlying modern economic policy and to question their validity.
Specific topics may be modified or adjusted in consultation with students.
The main activities of the seminar consist of reading in rotation, group work, discussion, and the writing of seminar papers.
In addition to research on themes common to the seminar, students will set their own research themes through extensive reading.
