【Course Objectives】

The goal is to bridge the concept of vectors learned in high school with the abstract linear algebra learned in university. Students learn various essences of linear algebra through 2×2 matrices.

【Course Contents】

Students will learn about the basic properties of matrices and matrix operations. In addition, students will learn about the relationship between 2×2 matrices and linear transformation on the plane, and learn about the significance of matrix diagonalization. Furthermore, as applications of matrices, we will discuss solving systems of linear equations, powers of matrices and systems of recurrence relations. The content of this course will serve as the basis for a series of lectures on “Linear Algebra” that will continue from the fall semester onward.
