【Course Objectives】

The aim of this course is to understand planets including the earth and moon, small bodies in the solar system, and exoplanets based on the latest research results.

【Course Contents】

The course will introduce the process of formation and evolution of the solar system and provide an overall picture of the present solar system. The planets of the solar system include rocky planets (Earth-like), giant gas planets (Jupiter-like), and giant ice planets (Uranus-like), some of which are surrounded by satellites (moons). In addition, there are numerous small bodies. How were these formed and how will they evolve in the future? In this course, students will learn about the observational techniques necessary to obtain information about planets and deepen their understanding of the latest achievements in planetary science, while establishing the fundamentals of the physical laws and processes necessary to understand these phenomena.
