This course aims to prepare students for advanced biochemistry courses, teaching major concepts in chemistry and the properties of biological molecules, especially of low molecular weight, on the basis of those concepts.
Fundamentals of molecular structure and redox reaction, based on the Lewis structure, are introduced and applied to biological molecules and reactions.
The concept of chemical equilibrium is introduced and applied to biochemical reactions, pH and buffering action.
Finally, chemical properties that cannot be understood with the Lewis structure will be addressed through the hybrid-orbital and the resonance concept.

化学の主要な考え方と生体分子（特に低分子）の特性を学び、より高度な生化学を学ぶ基礎をつくる。
This course aims to prepare students for advanced biochemistry courses, teaching major concepts in chemistry and the properties of biological molecules, especially of low molecular weight, on the basis of those concepts.
ルイス構造にもとづいて、分子の性質や酸化還元反応の基本を学び、生体分子の性質に適用する。化学平衡を学んで、生化学反応、pHや緩衝液に適用する。最後に、ルイス構造では理解できない現象を、混成軌道概念にもとづいて理解する。
