This course is designed to prepare students for reading scientific books and publications, and for listening to scientific oral presentations. Students should note that this is an English class, not a life-science class given in English.
The course mainly deals with English grammar in general and terminology in molecular biology. It consists of two parts.
Part I: Students will learn science-specific English and perform reading, listening and speaking exercises.
Part II: Students will brush up their listening and speaking skills making the best use of AV materials. Also, they will learn how to construct and present a presentation with scientific expressions.

英文の専門書や論文を読んだり講演を聴講できる下地を作ることを目標に，文法，専門用語の勉強を通じて科学英語に対する総合的な理解力を強化する。

受講生は2つのグループに分かれ，岡と海野のそれぞれの担当分を履修する。
岡担当分
生命理学科の指定教科書である「Essential 細胞生物学 原著第４版」を用いて，分子生物学分野の単語や表現を学ぶ。
海野担当分
生命理学に関連した内容の視聴覚教材を用いて、専門的な内容のリスニング及びスピーキングスキルの向上を図る。また、個々の受講生が関心のある領域について短いプレゼンテーションを作成し発表することで、科学英語の4技能を実践的に学ぶ。
