【Course Objectives】

We will consider the Great East Japan Earthquake from the perspectives of fieldwork and philosophy. In particular, we will consider how the nuclear accident in Fukushima relates to social issues such as environmental problems. The goal is to find the relationship between macro social perceptions and "I" who live everyday life.

【Course Contents】

We will consider the Great East Japan Earthquake from the perspectives of qualitative research, sociology of emotions, and narrative theory.

We will also consider the nuclear accident in Fukushima and its relationship to the environment, including electric power, food culture, eco-fashion, and sustainability. Or, we will consider the relationship with history, such as Nagasaki and Okinawa.

In the exercise, we will read some of the books listed in the bibliography. We will also share our thoughts through fieldwork in Futaba-machi, Fukushima Prefecture.

The class will be conducted so that students can think about contemporary society from their own perspectives.
