By emphasizing reading, discussion, and critical thinking skills, this course helps students build the foundation for a basic understanding of theory and methods in the regional and community studies.
Students will have the opportunity to read and discuss several books in order to increase their specialized knowledge for the third year of seminar selection. Understand the Japanese community problems from the perspectives of widening inequality, regional decline, and inhabitants. At the same time, consider the ideal future of Japanese society while referring to the situation and policies of other countries.

ゼミで共通の文献（地域社会関係）を読み、グループで討論するという経験を通して、（１）文献を批判的に読む、（２）レジュメの作り方やプレゼンテーション方法を修得する、（３）地域社会学・コミュニティ研究の基礎的知識を身につけることを目指す。
By emphasizing reading, discussion, and critical thinking skills, this course helps students build the foundation for a basic understanding of theory and methods in the regional and community studies.
３年次からのゼミ選択に向けて専門的知識を増やすために、新書レベルの文献を数冊講読し、討論する機会を持つ。日本の地域コミュニティの諸問題について、格差拡大、地域衰退、住民主体の観点から理解する。同時に、他国の状況や政策を参考にしながら、今後の望ましい日本社会のあり方を考える。
