In this course, issues such as "self", "others", "relationship", "social consciousness" are examined from the viewpoint of theoretical sociology. The objective is to enable students to: (i) know how to analyze an issue from a sociological perspective, (ii) conduct their own research projects, and (iii) write their thesis.
The course is composed of readings, discussions, and students' presentation. In the second semester, students have the responsibility to present their research at different stages of their project. Discussions give the presenters an opportunity to see their research from different perspectives.

理論社会学的視座を重視しつつ，社会事象や文化現象を素材として，「自我」や「コミュニケーション」についての社会的性格を理解する。そこから，各自の研究を進め，最終的に報告書を作成する。その中で，「自分」や「他者」，「社会」もしくは「世界」といったものにまつわる“わからなさ”に向かい合う想像力を培っていきたい。
また、本演習では「批評」と「批判」という意味を兼ね備えたcriticalな視点を養っていきたいと考える。文化表現や芸術表現から、時代と社会を批判的にとらえつつ、そこから実践的な視点を獲得する作業を重要視していく。

本演習では，理論社会学的な視点を軸として，「私」や「他者」，「関係性」，「社会意識」，「文化」などの問題について考察を行っていく。
専門演習２Ａには，自己・他者・コミュニケーションといった問題に対する社会学的視点を理解し，各自の問題関心を深めるための文献講読を行う。
夏期休暇中の合宿でそれぞれの研究方針を決定し，秋学期に調査を実施する。最終的に，自身の調査について考察を行って，400字原稿用紙30枚程度の論文を執筆し，それらをまとめ，年度末にゼミ報告書を作成する。

専門演習２Ａは文献をきちんと読み，また，毎回，なんらかのコメントを事前に考えておくこと。専門演習２Ｂについては，自身の調査を進め，担当回にしっかりとした報告をできるようにしておくこと。
