【Course Objectives】

To acquire basic knowledge about the significance, history, foundations, and applications of quantitative/metric sociology.

・Be able to understand how quantitative sociology is useful
・Be able to understand the concept and structure of quantitative sociology
・Be able to read the results of quantitative sociology

【Course Contents】

Quantitative/metric sociology is an academic field that uses quantitative data to decipher the diversity and changes in society. This makes it possible to describe and compare events occurring in society (social phenomena), verify and evaluate sociological theories, and even predict the future of society.
In this class, we will cover a wide range of topics, including the historical development of quantitative sociology from its birth to the present, the essential basic knowledge surrounding quantitative sociology, and the models and findings of quantitative sociology that are applied to various themes.
