Quantitative/metric sociology is an academic field that uses quantitative data to decipher the diversity and changes in society. This makes it possible to describe and compare events occurring in society (social phenomena), verify and evaluate sociological theories, and even predict the future of society.
In this class, we will cover a wide range of topics, including the historical development of quantitative sociology from its birth to the present, the essential basic knowledge surrounding quantitative sociology, and the models and findings of quantitative sociology that are applied to various themes.

計量社会学とは、数量的データを用いて、社会の多様性や変化を読み解く学問分野である。それにより、社会で起きている出来事（社会現象）の記述や比較をしたり、社会学理論の検証や評価をしたり、さらには社会のゆくえを予測することが可能となる。
この授業では、計量社会学の誕生から現在までの歴史的展開をはじめ、計量社会学をとりまく必須の基礎的知識、さまざまなテーマに対して応用される計量社会学のモデルと知見などについて、幅広く学ぶ。
Quantitative/metric sociology is an academic field that uses quantitative data to decipher the diversity and changes in society.
